Discover the Power of Our Powder Coatings
Experience the revolution in surface treatment with our Powder Coatings. Engineered for excellence, these coatings offer a high-quality, durable, and aesthetically pleasing finish for a wide range of applications.
Our powder coatings are designed to provide superior coverage that is resistant to scratches, chipping, fading, and wear. They ensure a smooth, uniform finish without drips or runs, making them ideal for various industries including automotive, architectural, furniture, appliances, and more.
Main Features:
- Durability: Powder coatings are known for their significant durability and resistance to abrasion, scratching, corrosion, and chemicals. This makes them ideal for use in harsh environments.
- Aesthetic Appeal: Powder coatings stay bright with less fading, and the color selection is virtually unlimited with high and low gloss, metallic, and clear finishes available. This allows for a high degree of customization to match any design aesthetic.
- Environmental Friendliness: Unlike other coating processes, such as spray painting, powder coating does not release harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the atmosphere. This makes it a more environmentally friendly option.
- Corrosion Resistance: Powder coating creates a barrier of protection over the metal that prevents moisture from reaching it, thereby protecting metal surfaces from rust and corrosion.
- Fast Curing Times: Many manufacturers prefer powder coating over spray painting because it has faster curing times. It typically cures in less than a half-hour, compared to up to 24 hours for spray paint to dry and even longer for it to cure.
- Cost-Effective: Most of the powder coating over-spray can be retrieved and re-used, making it a cost-effective solution.
Installation Instructions
Surface Preparation |
The substrate should be free of grease, oil, dirt, fingerprints, drawing compounds, any contamination, and surface preparation treatments to ensure optimum adhesion and coating performance properties.
|
Application |
A powder spray gun is used, which when triggered gives an electrostatic charge to the powder particles passing through it. As the parts to be coated are grounded, the powder is attracted towards the part via the electrostatic process.
|
Curing |
Once the powder is applied the parts are cured in an oven, which melts and cross-links the powder over the surface of the part and creates a tough, scratch-resistant, and beautiful finish.
|
Key points to consider during the application process of powder coating:
1. Surface Preparation: Before applying the powder, the substrate must undergo thorough cleaning to remove any contaminants like oil, grease, or rust. This crucial step ensures proper adhesion and a flawless finish. The substrate is freed from dust, scale, rust, grease, dirt, and any oxide layers (for example on aluminum). |
2. Proper Grounding: The most common cause of application issues is poor grounding. There needs to be some kind of connection from your part - the substrate being coated - to that earthen ground, be it racks or hangers etc. Also, ensure that these connecting parts are clean, because if there is not good metal to metal contact the charge will not pass through as easily. |
3. Gun Settings: Your gun settings may actually be the problem. Too much powder flow and incorrect kV levels can negatively affect an application. Straight away, make sure that you have a good earthen ground. |
4. Regular Maintenance and Cleaning: A regular maintenance and cleaning system is a good process to have in place. Powder builds up on racks, electrodes, and hooks, and needs to be cleaned away regularly. |
5. Temperature Control: Proper temperature control is essential for a successful powder coating application. Too high or too low temperatures can cause issues such as insufficient gloss, discoloration, orange peel texture, pinholes, and air bubbles. |
6. Powder Application Techniques: Different powder application techniques can result in different finishes. It's important to understand the specific requirements of the powder you're using and adjust your application technique accordingly. |
